Our first Council Meeting of the year started off with a bang!  Our meeting was hosted by Morton Ranch Junior High PTSA.

Boy Scout Troop 557 led us in the pledge.

Council officers gave reports about the upcoming year.  But, the highlight of the meeting was hearing from our brand new superintendent, Dr. Lance Hindt!  Thank you for sharing your time with us Dr. Hindt!  We look forward to working with you!!!

Thank you to Wolman Elementary PTA for providing the wonderful snacks at our meeting. It was a beautifully festive fall spread.

Secretary, Jeannie Griffith, had a handout about the history of PTA and some of the causes that  the organization has taken on in the past. Why PTA

Guests in attendance included Leslie Boggs, Texas PTA President who visited four PTAs whose membership included a voice for every child in 2014-15: Kilpatrick, Alexander, Randolph, and Pattison.

During the meeting the 2014-15 Financial Reconciliation Committee and the Final Annual Reports were given. Amendments to the budget were passed. We heard reports from National PTA Convention and SLS.

Membership goal for Katy Council this year is 30,000 members.

Our speaker was Karen Sparks, an amazing teacher and mentor at Morton Ranch High School. She currently teaches Strategic Reading and piloting Restorative Justice on the campus.  She’s an inspiration to her students, parents, volunteers and the community at large.  Her desire to build strong relationships by collaborating with all team members is one of the her many qualities that we all admire.  Her topic was “The Power of Today”.   If you are interested in talking to her about speaking at your event, you can reach her at
