Watch D.O.G.S.
Each school year fathers and father-figures make a positive impact on thousands of students in our district by volunteering countless hours in their local schools through this one-of-a-kind program. This school year may look different, but Watch D.O.G.S can still make a difference helping out by serving as a health ambassador, helping out during car rider drop off and pick up, and modeling healthy behavior. Many families come together to represent their home country and provide an opportunity for others to get a glimpse of what life is like outside of the U.S. by sampling foods, offering facts, and even performing. This is a top event for many schools within our district. Check with your PTA and campus administrator to see how this program can best work for your school.
Adopt-a-School Board Member!
Did you realize School Board Members are just like us – volunteers! Katy ISD Council of PTAs strives to grow our community and assigns a School Board Member to each local PTA. School Board Members are then invited to see how awesome our PTAs are by attending programs and PTA functions throughout the year.
Each January, during School Board Appreciation Month, local PTAs present a book to their adopted school board member, which is then donated back to their school library.
Please contact your school secretary to confirm the name of your School Board member.
Teacher Appreciation for Alternative Campuses
Another program of Katy ISD Council of PTAs is the coordination of teacher appreciation for Miller Career and Technology Center, Raines High School, the Opportunity Awareness Center and the Shaw STEAM Center. These campuses do not have a traditional parent support group since these are not traditional campuses! This is a way for us to bring the community together in support of these awesome educators.
Katy ISD Council of PTAs is hoping the PTAs within our council will each take a turn to show appreciation for the teachers at these campuses. The treats can be as big or as little as your PTA’s budget allows. We encourage you to team up with other schools in your feeder pattern, or a sister school, and love on these teachers!
